TCP
The layer that turns the internet's unreliable packets into a reliable, in-order stream of bytes between two programs.

The echo endpoint sends back what it received. Look at how the query string arrives: é was sent as %C3%A9, its two UTF-8 bytes.
Learn it properly
HTTP from the wire up · What really travels between client and server: bytes, headers and bodies. About 35 minutes.
Other terms from the same lesson
- DNS: The internet's directory: it turns a name like api.shop.test into the numeric address of the server.
- percent-encoding: Writing special characters in a URL as % and two hex digits, such as a space as %20.
- TLS: Encryption for a network connection, plus a certificate proving the server's identity. HTTPS is HTTP inside TLS.
