- e-notation: A way to write very big or very small numbers with a power of ten: 3e-4 means 3 × 10⁻⁴, which is 0.0003.
- exponent: The small raised number in a power, saying how many times to multiply: in 2⁵, the exponent 5 means 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2.
- order of magnitude: A power of ten. Two numbers three orders of magnitude apart differ by a factor of about 1,000.
